How this calculator works

How to use it

Open the settings panel above and set your hourly rate. Then, for each day, enter your hours worked and any tips. That's the whole tool -- no groom-by-groom pricing needed, since revenue plays no part in a straight hourly wage. Your week's pay updates automatically as you type.

Hours times rate, tips on top, nothing else in the math

A flat hourly rate with no commission attached. Your gross pay is the hours you log times your hourly rate. Tips are separate and entirely yours on top of that. It's the simplest structure in grooming, which is exactly why this page asks for only two things: your hourly rate, and your hours.

Where this shows up

Most often during a training period, when commission would punish someone still building hand speed and learning breed cuts through no fault of their own. It also shows up as a standing arrangement at some salons regardless of experience, particularly ones that don't run a commission structure at all.

If you're on a training-period hourly rate, watch the exit

A training period without a defined end has a way of lasting longer than it should. If your salon plans to move you onto commission or a blended structure later, get the trigger in writing: a number of weeks, a certification, a dog-count-per-day threshold, or a review date. "When you're ready" is not a trigger -- it's a decision someone else makes on a schedule that suits them, not you.
